The second international festival of Body Music “New Balkan Rhythm” held in Sremski Karlovci – Serbia and organized by members of the band Alice in WonderBand has ended. Lecturers and performers at the festival were Max Polak (New York), Elena Hristova (Skopje), Ana Lombard (Barcelona), Ben Shic (Hamburg) and Marko Dinjaski and Ana Vrbaski (Sremski Karlovci).
In addition to the twelve Body Music workshops that took place over the three days, the lecturers’ concert that opened the festival on 25/08/2023 attracted a lot of public attention. The Macedonian group “Baklava” also participated in the concert.
The festival was realized with the support of the Secretariat for Culture of the City of Novi Sad in partnership with the Tourism Organization of Sremski Karlovci, SOSHO “Milan Petrovic”, the Vojvodina Mountain Movement, the ecological center “Radulovački”, while the civic association “Open Circle Novi Sad” (Otvoreni krug Novi Sad) organized the event.
Body Music and its scene continues with its life even after the festival. On 05/09/2023, the band Alice in WonderBand will premiere the music video for the song “Јovano, Jovanke” from their latest album “RikaTaka, New Balkan Rhythm” released for the German publisher CPL-Music. The video was made with the support of the Creative Europe fund, within the project MOST Music – Balkan Music Export, which includes this band.
On 09/09/2023 at 19:00, the duo performed at the Balkan: MOST festival in Veszprém, the European cultural capital. The festival is the finale of the three-year international MOST music project. Alice in WonderBand was the opening act of Marina Satti, a Greek star from the world music scene. Barcelona Balkan Gipsy Orchestra, Dubioza Kolektiv, Manu Chao and many others also performed at the festival.
There is an announcement that Alice in WonderBand would be seen in Skopje at this year’s Vinoskop, which will be held in October 2023.
