Antonia Clara Iacobescu, widely recognized by her stage name Antonia, is a Romanian-American pop singer, model, music author, and songwriter.
She was born on 12/04/1989, in Bucharest, Romania. Antonia moved to the United States with her family when she was five. She began her singing career at the age of 10. Antonia spent her childhood in Utah and completed her high school education in Las Vegas, Nevada. During her time in the United States, she engaged in numerous photo shoots for catalogs and collaborated with American modeling agencies such as Lenz and Ford Models.
At the age of eighteen, Antonia returned to Romania with her family. In 2009, she met Romanian producer Tom Boxer through a friend who had heard her sing. Antonia Iacobescu and Tom collaborated to create their first song, “Roses on Fire“. They also released a music video for the song, which was written and directed by Tom. Their song “Morena,” released in January 2010, achieved chart-topping success in Romania, Poland, and Bulgaria. It reached the number one position on the charts in these countries, and it also made its way into the top 10 in Hungary and Israel.
In 2011, Antonia collaborated with the band Vunk and released the single titled “Pleacă,” which translates to “Leaves”. In the mid-summer of 2012, Antonia Iacobescu released the song “I Got You” and the single “Jameia,” which reached the fifth position on the charts in Romania.
New Era for Antonia Iacobescu After The Birth Of Her Child
After the birth of her first child, Antonia Iacobescu returned to her music career as a solo singer. She released “Marionette,” a song written by Dutch producer and DJ Afrojack. In 2014, she also took on the role of a judge in the television show Kids Sing, which was aired on the Romanian television channel Kanal D.
On 17/04/2015, Antonia Iacobescu released her debut album titled “This Is Antonia” through the Romanian label Roton Records. The album comprises twelve tracks and is available in both digital and physical formats.
Since 2015, Antonia Iacobescu has ventured into a film career. She provided her voice for the character Jeanette in the animated film “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Big Adventure.”
